Description
Premium 1.75mm Metal-Coloured PLA Filament Refills
Give your prints a metallic-inspired appearance with Spool3D Metal-Coloured PLA 3D printer filament. Manufactured from premium-grade PLA with tight dimensional tolerances, this filament combines dependable PLA printability with Gold and Silver colours designed to give decorative and display prints a refined metal-like appearance.
Our Metal-Coloured PLA collection includes Gold and Silver. Both colours are now available exclusively as lower-waste reSpool3D refills.
These filaments do not contain metal powder or metal fibres. The metallic appearance comes from the colour and finish of the PLA.

reSpool3D Filament Refills
reSpool3D refills reduce unnecessary spool waste while providing the same Spool3D PLA filament and print performance. Each refill contains 1 kg of filament and must be installed onto a compatible reusable spool before printing.
Refills are compatible with Spool3D reusable spools, Bambu Lab reusable spools, or a compatible reusable spool that you print yourself.
PLA Metal Colours
Gold PLA
Gold PLA is based on Pantone 874 C and has a warm, rich gold-brown tone inspired by traditional metallic gold. It is an excellent choice for trophies, props, jewellery-inspired prints, decorative models, architectural details, ornaments and display pieces where a sophisticated gold appearance is desired.
Silver PLA
Silver PLA is based on Pantone 877 C and uses a cool metallic grey appearance inspired by polished silver. It works especially well for mechanical-looking models, props, armour pieces, trophies, decorative parts, architectural details and display prints.
Why Choose Spool3D Metal-Coloured PLA?
- Metal-Inspired Appearance: Gold and Silver colours provide a metallic look without metal powder or abrasive fibres.
- Easy to Print: Prints with the familiar low-warping behaviour and ease of use associated with PLA.
- No Special Nozzle Required: Because these colours do not contain metal particles, a standard nozzle can be used.
- Excellent Layer Adhesion: Reliable bonding between layers for models, props and everyday parts.
- Consistent 1.75mm Diameter: Tight dimensional tolerances help ensure reliable filament feeding.
- Low Odour: PLA is easy to work with for home, educational and professional use.
- Lower-Waste Refill Format: Both colours are supplied as reSpool3D refills to reduce unnecessary disposable spool waste.
- Pantone Colour Coded: Defined colour references make it easier to identify and reorder Gold and Silver.
- Vacuum Packaged: Filament is packaged with desiccant in a resealable bag to help maintain dryness during storage and shipping.
Colour Reference
HEX values are digital screen approximations intended to help identify colours online. Actual filament appearance can vary with lighting, display calibration, print orientation and surface geometry.

Tips for Printing with Metal-Coloured PLA
- Ensure your print bed is level for good first-layer adhesion.
- Experiment within the recommended nozzle-temperature range to find the best balance of surface finish and layer adhesion for your printer.
- Layer height and print orientation can affect how light reflects from Gold and Silver surfaces.
- Use part cooling for detailed features, bridges and overhangs when appropriate.
- For display pieces, slightly larger or smoother surfaces can help emphasize the metallic-inspired colour.
- Store PLA in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and keep it sealed with desiccant when not in use.

Inconsistent color
I will not buy again. The color is inconsistent from one spool to another. The end result is also very brittle compare to other PLA.
-
Finish issues
Tried a few different temperatures and part orientation and still ended up with a rough bottom surface with the gold color filament. Same data with different filament was considerably better.

Great PLA
I've been using Spool3D PLA filament for a while now and I have no complaints whatsoever. I've had better print quality than I did with the roll of Prusament that came with my printer. The gold is not a super bright gold but it does look really good. Will have to try a metal filled gold to see if it's brighter. Prusa MK3S

Spool3D 1.75mm GOLD "Metal" Filament Review
Terrific filament for re-creating GOLD. I have used it for a bracelet and a jewelry box. Really nice!

Beautiful finish
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered this, but was pleasantly surprised that the end product was much closer to a silk PLA than regular gloss. It seems to be relatively strong, too (most silk PLA I've used has been brittle), which means that for certain prints I would prefer to use this.
