"Smart" version 3.1 - Engineered Plastic Push-Pin

BLTouch is an auto leveling sensor for 3D Printers based on open-source.

  • Smart
  • Simple
  • High-precision

BLTouch is a type of semiconductor hall sensor and is an electronic component for 3D printers.

BLTouch is an auto leveling sensor for 3D Printers that can precisely measure the tilt of Bed surface. It could work with any kinds of bed materials, such as glass, metals, and so on.

Main functions and controls of BLTouch are the same as usual auto bed leveling sensor, consists of RC servo and micro switch. Thus, BLTouch can be applied on almost every board.

BLTouch is fulfilled with simple structure and high precision by using progressively designed solenoid and hall sensor. It aims for user convenience and enjoyable printing by adding many smart functions, such as self-test, alarm, alarm release & Touch Switch mode, Blue LED for servo signal indicating and Z-probe(Zmin) Testing.

Simple

BLTouch can be easily applied, since it has a small and simple structure. As BLTouch works as usual auto bed leveling sensor, Gathering information & setting up your firmware will be an easy task.

Smart

  • Self-test : The push pin operates two times in a test when the power is on.
  • Alarm : The AI will flash the LED indicator if a problem is detected during a self-test or operation.
  • Wiring defect indicator : Blue and Red LED for indicating wiring defects.

High-precision

BLTouch’s Standard Deviation in repeatability is around 0.005mm.

Logic Voltage Free(Open Drain Output)

3.3V / 5V logic voltage free(default).

Long stroke : ≒ 6.5mm

The stroke is up to 1.6mm longer than V2.0

Cable length is 15cm. Replacement cables may be required.

    BLTouch

Put this on and Ender 3 and it works great. Followed some of the videos on line to get z offset correct. Had to update creality board to Marlin 2.03. A little tricky , you have to turn off a few things in the code that were not really ever used but got it done(videos on line). Old board had the boot loader on it which made it a bit simpler.

    Best upgrade!

Posted by Fred on August 29, 2019

Bought it to install on an Ender 5, I changed the board at the same time for an SKR1.3 with TMC2208. Now the printer work like a charm, the bed leveling is the feature that was missing, the BL Touch was easy to install on Marlin 2.0 and it works perfectly. I don't need anymore to manually adjust the bed every few prints, the 1st layer is excellent! Probably on of the best upgrade I purchased!

    Works perfectly

Posted by Devon S. Pearce on April 25, 2019

Alright so let me just start by saying that I recieved version 3.0. Version 3.0 and marlin only work together if your using the 1.1.9 bugfix patches for the new version of bltouch or the version 2.0.0 build. Once I got that all sorted out it works perfectly. The first layer always goes down well and i can't wait to try it out with the buildtak flexplates I ordered. All in all it works and I love it.

Buy this if you want a headache, otherwise avoid

Posted by Derek on April 02, 2019

As far as I can tell, this was a waste of money. The sensor fails its self-test most of the time, and gives inconsistent readings when I actually get to use it. Consider purchasing a different probe.

Best sensor available, wish QC was a little tighter

Posted by Unknown on January 13, 2019

This is by far the best sensor available. Reliable trigger height, excellent precision. The latest version makes troubleshooting a lot easier with the extra LED indicating trigger wire state. However, I've owned 3 of them, and 2 of them had issues out of the box that were resolved with either buying a new pin for one or getting a warranty replacement with a new unit for the other.

    Meh

Works slightly better than my 3dtouch, which I recently broke. Also, the plastic pin is easily bent. Replacement not available here.

is there anything bad about this sensor?

Posted by Bill on February 02, 2018

Not one iota. Works on marlin right out the box. Reliable, robust and accurate. Repetier support is still lacking.
