Print it right with Spool3D PLA 3D printer filament.  Our PLA thermoplastic filament is manufactured with tight tolerances from premium grade material.

This filament is formulated to produce a smooth, non-glossy surface with a tactile feel, perfect for artistic creations, tabletop miniatures, functional parts where reflections are undesirable, or any project that benefits from a sophisticated, low-sheen aesthetic. Our PLA Matte Colours filament is made with the same high-quality standards you expect from Spool3D, ensuring consistent and reliable results.

Like our standard PLA, this filament is easy to print and offers excellent layer adhesion. It's a fantastic material for both beginners and experienced users looking to add a touch of refined texture to their 3D printing projects. Our Matte Colours PLA filament is available in a range of stylish and muted solid colours, all precisely Pantone-matched for consistent and reliable results.

Explore Our 1.75mm Matte PLA Collection:

    • Matte Black - The primary characteristic is its intense black colour, but without any gloss or shine. It absorbs light rather than reflecting it, resulting in a flat, almost velvety appearance.
    • Matte Dark Blue - A rich, dark blue, often described as a classic navy. The combination of the deep navy hue and the matte finish creates an effect of understated elegance. It's a strong colour without being visually loud or reflective.
    • Matte Dark Grey - A dark gray, leaning towards the cooler side of the spectrum. It's a neutral colour, providing a sense of sophistication and neutrality. The combination of the dark gray and matte finish creates a modern, understated aesthetic. It's a colour that doesn't draw attention to itself but provides a solid, elegant base for designs.
    • Matte White - The colour is a clean, often slightly off-white, providing a neutral and bright foundation for your prints. It lacks the creamy or yellowish undertones some other "whites" might have. The surface will absorb light rather than reflecting it, resulting in a flat, smooth appearance without any noticeable highlights or glare. It will have a more tactile, almost chalky feel compared to glossy PLA.

Why Choose Our 1.75mm PLA Filament?

    • Smooth Matte Finish: Produces a non-glossy surface with a sophisticated and tactile feel.
    • Understated Elegance: Ideal for projects where a subtle, non-reflective look is desired.
    • Exceptional Printability: Our PLA is formulated for smooth extrusion, minimal warping, and excellent layer adhesion.
    • High Quality Materials: We use premium-grade PLA resin to ensure consistent diameter and reliable performance.
    • Made from plants: Makes PLA a renewable biopolymer.
    • Wide Compatibility: Our 1.75mm filament is compatible with all FDM 3D printers.
    • Secure Packaging: Our filament is vacuum-sealed with desiccant to maintain optimal dryness and quality.
    • Pantone Colour Coded: Ensures accurate colour matching.

PLA filament is an excellent material for a beginner to start with and has the added benefit of being a bio-plastic, typically derived from corn.  Low odour and consistently round diameters make this material very easy to work with.

Tips for Achieving Optimal Matte Finish:

  • Nozzle Temperature: Experiment within the recommended temperature range to find the setting that provides the smoothest matte surface without stringing. Lower temperatures or faster printing can create a more matte finish, but may affect layer adhesion.

Tips for Printing with PLA:

    • Ensure your bed is level for optimal first layer adhesion.
    • Experiment with printing temperatures to find the best results for your printer.
    • Consider using a cooling fan for intricate details and bridging.
    • Store your PLA filament in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight when not in use. Please use the resealable plastic bag with the desiccant pack provided.

You guys really shouldn't be selling this

Posted by David on April 05, 2022

Very poorly wound. It snags so bad it actually pulled the filament off the spool holder (MINI+). Lots of kinks in the filament, about 1 kink every 25cm. Filament diameter varied by as much as 0.10mm using caliper. Had 2 printers that were printing with no issues for months. Switched to this filament and immediately caused problems. It's caused 2 extruder blobs. Wasted a full week fixing the problems it's caused. It's horrible. That other review 2/5 stars is being generous. I want a refund.

    Didn’t get matte

Picked up the order and started a multi hour print before realizing it was not matte black PLA. Oh well.

    Better than anticipated

Posted by Ali (thursdayCreative) on August 04, 2023

I must have an older run of the matte dark grey, as I've had zero issues running it through my printers. I've experienced no tangles, no clogging and noted that it does perform significantly better at the higher end of the temp scale. My only issue is that the color I need remains out of stock, other than, this matte grey does produce beautiful results
