A powerful little beast of a heater. Get rid of fragile and poorly toleranced enamel resistors and switch to a purpose made high power ceramic heater cartridge. Get your HotEnd hot quickly and hit the highest of temperatures.

Purpose made 30W and 40W heater cartridges for E3D HotEnds. These aren’t the same as the low-quality parts often seen in clones and have a considerably higher internal build quality. Please ensure you double-check the power supply before choosing either 12V or 24V.

Key features:

  • Cartridge diameter: 6 mm
  • Cartridge length: 21 mm
  • Cable length: 1 m
  • Voltage: 12V or 24V
  • Power: 30W or 40W

Kit includes:

  • 1 x heater cartridge of chosen voltage and wattage

    Replacement for Prusa i3 MK3

Posted by Zachary Dobberthien on June 12, 2019

Not much more to say than it works! The heater in my Prusa i3 MK3 stopped working for some reason, and rather than having to go through E3D or Prusa I was able to buy this replacement heater cartridge cheaply and locally so I didn't have to pay shipping. I took apart my extruder, heated up the heater block with a blow torch to soften the plastic, and was able to swap it out within an afternoon

    Tight tolerances

The fibreglass sleeve is thicker than on the regular ones. Also the cylinder cartridge fits much more snug than the regular one, so, you have to be careful when pushing it through the heating block. 30 watt is a bit less than the 40 watt one but it was more stable and had extra juice left for the heating bed to heat up faster.

    Worked exactly as expected

I had some concerns regarding the bending of the wires at the end of the cartridge bur I have used a screw driver as bending rod and I had no issues. Did not brake and made a nice curve allowing to push the protection (insulation) back close to the cartridge body.

    Do as it's said.

Obviously, there is no need to tell you how awsome E3D is. This replacement work like a charm. The only bad point (commun to all ceramic cartridge) is that soldering are the weak spot and ther for prone to break.... beside that it is truly great
