Print it right with Spool3D PLA 3D printer filament.  Our PLA thermoplastic filament is manufactured with tight tolerances from premium grade material.

This composite material is created by infusing standard PLA with short strands of carbon fiber. The result is a filament that offers significantly increased stiffness, improved dimensional stability, and a unique matte, textured appearance. Ideal for creating lightweight yet strong structural components, drone parts, robotics, jigs, fixtures, and aesthetic upgrades with a technical look, our Carbon Fiber PLA filament is made with the same high-quality standards you expect from Spool3D.

While offering enhanced rigidity, this filament remains relatively easy to print on most FDM 3D printers, similar to standard PLA. However, due to the abrasive nature of carbon fibers, using a hardened steel nozzle is highly recommended to prevent wear. Our Carbon Fiber PLA filament is available in a sleek, matte black finish that showcases the subtle texture of the embedded fibers.

Why Choose Our 1.75mm Carbon Fiber PLA Filament?

    • Enhanced Stiffness and Rigidity: Carbon fiber reinforcement provides significantly increased stiffness compared to standard PLA.
    • Improved Dimensional Stability: Offers better resistance to warping and shrinkage.
    • Lightweight: Maintains the lightweight properties of PLA while adding strength.
    • Unique Matte Carbon Fiber Appearance: Provides a sleek, technical aesthetic with a subtle textured finish.
    • Relatively Easy to Print: Prints with similar temperature ranges to standard PLA.
    • High Quality Materials: We use premium-grade PLA resin to ensure consistent diameter and reliable performance.
    • Made from plants: Makes PLA a renewable biopolymer.
    • Wide Compatibility: Our 1.75mm filament is compatible with all FDM 3D printers.
    • Secure Packaging: Our filament is vacuum-sealed with desiccant to maintain optimal dryness and quality.

PLA filament is an excellent material for a beginner to start with and has the added benefit of being a bio-plastic, typically derived from corn.  Low odour and consistently round diameters make this material very easy to work with.

Tips for Printing with Carbon Fiber PLA:

    • Nozzle Material: Hardened steel nozzle is highly recommended due to the abrasive nature of carbon fibers. Standard brass nozzles will wear down quickly.
    • Layer Height: Consider slightly larger layer heights (e.g., 0.2mm or higher) to reduce the risk of nozzle clogging.
    • Avoid Small Nozzle Diameters: Smaller nozzles (e.g., 0.2mm or 0.3mm) are more prone to clogging due to the carbon fibers. A 0.4mm or larger nozzle is generally recommended.
    • Increase Nozzle Temperature (Slightly): You might need to slightly increase your nozzle temperature compared to standard PLA to ensure proper flow.
    • Consider a Higher Layer Height: This can help prevent clogs.
    • Print Slower (If Clogging Occurs): A slightly slower print speed can sometimes help the filament flow more smoothly.
    • Ensure your bed is level for optimal first layer adhesion.
    • Experiment with printing temperatures to find the best results for your printer.
    • Consider using a cooling fan for intricate details and bridging.
    • Store your PLA filament in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight when not in use. Please use the resealable plastic bag with the desiccant pack provided.

Abrasive resistant nozzles:

Specifications:

    • Filament Diameter: 1.75mm (± 0.04mm tolerance)

    bad on bridges good otherwise

you have to be careful around long bridging parts, but otherwise it is a nice filament

The best prints I've ever had

Posted by Spike on July 14, 2019

With a hardened nozzle, this carbon fiber pla is simply the best. Detail is amazing, no squishing or over abundance of material. Paints well also.
