How to tell if you have a bad sensor - you require a meter to measure resistance.  A good sensor has the following resistances (close is good) between the coloured wires listed, measured at the connector when unplugged from the circuit board:

• Red - White = 0.75 kohms
• Red - Green = 0.75 kohms
• Red - Black = 1 kohms
• White - Green = 1 kohms
• White - Black = 0.75 kohms
• Green - Black = 0.75 kohms

Depending on the version of sensor, the green wire may be yellow instead.
