The description is accurate but the listing title is not. These are chrome plated carbon steel rods, as I found out when they stuck quite strongly to a magnet, very unlike stainless steel. I also find that bearings with a 5mm bore can slide quite freely along the rod, when they should be tight against it, requiring a press fit. The rods I measured were 4.96mm +/- 0.01mm, which is very close to 5mm, but far enough off to cause problems when used as an axle or motor shaft with bearings. seizing the bearings with glue will likely work. The chrome plating also means that filing flat points on the shaft for mounting pulleys with a set screw will require disrupting the chrome. Despite this they are decent rods for their price, and very usable, but they are certainly not stainless steel.
