In the early days of 3D printing, every roll of filament came on a heavy, single-use plastic spool. Once the filament was gone, that spool went into the bin—a massive amount of waste for a community that prides itself on innovation.

At Spool3D, we’re moving toward a more sustainable future. Our new Refillable Filament Spool System is designed to eliminate the "empty spool graveyard" while saving you money on every kilogram of plastic.

The math is simple: shipping a plastic spool across the country is expensive and environmentally taxing. By switching to "Master Spool" compatible refills, you’re only paying for the material you actually use.

  • Universal Design: Our spools are designed to fit standard 1kg refill coils and are compatible with most dry boxes and AMS systems. The spools are also compatible with Bambu Lab refills.

Precision Engineering for Smooth Printing

We didn't just want a spool that was "green"; we wanted one that worked better than the disposables. Our refillable spools feature:

  • Transparent:Clear spools allow you to see exactly how much filament is left on the roll at a glance.
  • Durable Materials: Made from high-impact, heat-resistant polymers that won't warp if you need to dry your filament in an oven or active dryer.
  • Easy-Lock Mechanism: A simple twist-and-lock design that makes swapping coils a 30-second job. No tools required.

How to Use the System

  1. Open: Twist the two halves of the Spool3D Refillable Spool to unlock them.
  2. Load: Slide your refill coil onto the core. Pro Tip: Don't cut the binding straps yet!
  3. Secure: Line up the notches, press the halves together, and twist to lock.
  4. Snip: Now that the coil is secure, snip the binding straps and feed the filament into the integrated stay-holes.
  5. Sticker: Affix the supplied sticker for filament identification.
  6. RFID: Using Creality RFID enabled printers? Affix RFID stickers in the designated spot and program.

**There are notches on both sides of the spool for  the notch found on Bambu Lab refill spools.  Please line up one of the notches on the Bambu Lab refill spool.  The other side will press into the cardboard when squeezing toogether the reusable spool.
