Print it right with Spool3D PLA 3D printer filament.  Our PLA thermoplastic filament is manufactured with tight tolerances from premium grade material.

This unique filament is infused with a phosphorescent pigment, typically strontium aluminate, which absorbs light and then releases it, creating a captivating glow in the dark. Perfect for novelty items, safety markers, artistic projects, or anything that needs a touch of magic, our Glow in the Dark PLA filament is made with the same high-quality standards you expect from Spool3D.

Like our standard PLA, our glow in the dark PLA is easy to print and offers excellent layer adhesion. It's a fantastic material for both beginners and experienced users looking to add a luminous effect to their 3D printing projects. Our Glow in the Dark PLA filament is available in a range of glowing colours, all precisely matched for consistent and reliable results.

Explore Our 1.75mm PLA Glow in the Dark Collection:

    • Glow Blue
    • Glow Green
    • Glow Yellow

Filament requires charging with light prior to glowing.  Enhanced further when charged with UV light.  Non-glowing colour is white.

Tips for Maximizing Glow:

  • Layer Thickness: Thicker layers will generally result in a brighter and longer-lasting glow, as there's more glowing pigment per unit volume.
  • Exposure to Light: Charge the printed object under a strong light source (UV light is ideal) for an extended period to maximize the glow effect.

Why Choose Our 1.75mm PLA Filament?

    • Glow-in-the-Dark Effect: Imbue your prints with a captivating glow that lasts after exposure to light.
    • Exceptional Printability: Our PLA is formulated for smooth extrusion, minimal warping, and excellent layer adhesion.
    • High Quality Materials: We use premium-grade PLA resin to ensure consistent diameter and reliable performance.
    • Made from plants: Makes PLA a renewable biopolymer.
    • Wide Compatibility: Our 1.75mm filament is compatible with all FDM 3D printers.
    • Secure Packaging: Our filament is vacuum-sealed with desiccant to maintain optimal dryness and quality.

PLA filament is an excellent material for a beginner to start with and has the added benefit of being a bio-plastic, typically derived from corn.  Low odour and consistently round diameters make this material very easy to work with.

Tips for Printing with PLA:

    • Ensure your bed is level for optimal first layer adhesion.
    • Experiment with printing temperatures to find the best results for your printer.
    • Consider using a cooling fan for intricate details and bridging.
    • Store your PLA filament in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight when not in use. Please use the resealable plastic bag with the desiccant pack provided.

Looks cool, but I think it was wet...

Posted by Mark on September 01, 2019

Printing in a glow in the dark filament seemed like a neat idea. The filament glowed as expected - very cool. Unfortunately, it also popped and hissed while being extruded at any temperature, and showed the surface texture and extrusion appearance consistent with wet filament. The vacuum packaging was still intact, and I tried to print 10 minutes after breaking the seal. I don't have a filament dryer, yet, so I can't verify my hypothesis... I'll keep the filament around until I DO have a dryer. Then we'll see. In the meantime, it's a small disappointment.

    Very bright

The filament glows very bright, the only thing i reccomend is usinga hardende steel nozzle of something similar, other than that it prints like any other PLA and looks amazing on timelapses

    Pretty darn good!

I'm still pretty new to 3d printing, and this filament worked well right out of the box for me! Minimal tuning of settings to get rid just a hint of stringing. I found its "glow-in-the-dark" -Ness to its most effective with higher infill percentages and thicker shapes.
